And don't use di-electric grease in this application; it has poor lubricating properties and will only last 6-9 months. Use white Lithium grease; excellent lubricant and lasts 6-9 years. Personal experience.

You are right. The replacement contact rings don't fit so well. To make
mine work I had to take the brass ring off the new one and put it on the
old plastic to get it to work. That solved my problem.
