Hi Richard,
Not sure how good a match but it looks like GW has a product available. I’m planning to get some swatches and ask my wife if it might work for the panel or for the headliner. The liner over the seats is starting to give out in the corners. The 84 lived in hot areas most of its life so I’m thinking the heat may have something to do with the issue, but the liner has also been removed at least once to reach some wiring problems.
Anyone that has recovered the head liner please share your experiences.

It is attractive (I've used throughout my Vanagon, others have even used as headliner on Pop-Tops). It conforms, and readily attaches with spray contact adhesive. It is warm to the touch! It is incredibly durable as well....OK firewood...attack this!

I have for 35 years just kind of gone with it. It was black, and papery thin. Every now and then I think....what about some spray adhesive....some vinyl fabric...heavy duty stuff. And then...I relax...pause...do other stuff on Vanagon.
