Interesting topic...
This is why I use my 2012 MacPro 5.1 - MacOS High Sierra and my 2016
MacBook Pro - MacOS Mojave. Both machines can run Adobe Creative Suite CS6
and other softwares (MS office etc.). Recently a friend offered me a 2020
MacBook Pro... I loaded my softwares in it... errr. NOPE... NONE of them
run... I have to buy/subscribe to Adobe CC (Cloud version) for about
$900.00 and other upgraded softwares too.. total cost for softwares is
about $2K.
Now... I'd think my 1990 tintop Syncro is better than a 2020/2021 van...
:-) - that's why I keep using old stuff unless they are not fixable anymore.
Cheer for the New Year....
