@ that milage, if it was well taken care of You could probably get away with running 5w30 & then just keep a close eye on oil level until You can be sure it is not an oil burner,,, If You do start to see oil burn, change the PCV Valve before You start running heavier oil to see if that may possibly be the cause,,, Subies can exhibit oil consumption without showing any smoke @ the tailpipe ~ Take good care of it & it might very well be a very fun addition to 1 Vanagons some day ~
