Truth is: a girlfriend gifted me the whole Amazon Prime deal. I thought the whole thing was unnecessary. But I went ahead. Was amazed that stuff needed was on my doorstep a day or two later. Yes, it is $140 a year. Kudos to Jeff Bezos.

to join Prime when they offer "thirty days, free" when I buy something. So
I take the "deal," get my product shipped, then immediately cancel. Most
everything I buy on Amazon ships free because I don't buy diddly stuff for
a few bucks there. So I don't need the sucker deal of paying for Prime. I
once bought a starter for my van there, following Dennis's advice (obligate
Vanagon content for non-Friday post). The starter has worked out very
well, no problems.
