Me and Listmember Dan N. had a good conversation.  This was my response.  I am forwarding just for your amusement.  We all have our stories.

On Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at 02:32:20 PM PDT, Richard Koerner <rjkinpb@sbcglobal.net> wrote: I bought a 70 bus in 1974.  It was $1800.  Goal was to drive all around the USA; and I did it, 15,000 miles in 2 months.  And then sell it.  Only problem was....I fell in love with that box.  I knew this after only 1 week on the road. Then the late 80's rolled around.  They had this new thing, a Vanagon.  More powerful, water cooled, air conditioning, power steering....the whole bit. So, I searched ads.  No way was I going to sell my 70 Bus until I had another in my grasp.  But it happened.  Bought an 85 Tintop (I am especially skilled at turning a van into a fantastic camper.) I sold the 70 Bus for $1800; and bought the 85 Tintop for $8400 (39K on odometer).  And, oh yes, I will confidently place my 85 Tintop Vanagon against all others; and my A/C works, and so does my "inside" hot water shower, not to mention the bigger than Queen Size bed.  And with Subie, a reliable 22+ MPG on roadtrips.

Remarkably amazed by my antics!  And still here to tell the story.
