This happened to us once too. I still tell the story of how the shaft/pin holding up the accelerator just broke off and the pedal flopped to the floor at a very busy intersection. We all have a good laugh now but when it happened I had to have my wife lean down and hold the pin up so the pedal would work again. We stopped at a local gas station and then were able to fix it up in 15m.

Good luck!

Cheers, Harry

Linkage separating and cable failure is also possible, especially on automatics. Accelerator pedal has detached itself. Assuming it rusted out over the winter. I couldn’t spend much time with the van and didn’t get a chance to poke around. Will I find the floor rusted out? Could I bolt it through the floor as a temporary fix? > > > > Thanks > > Jeff > > > > Sent from my iPhone
