You can really see the impact of the safety capsule design in the
placement of the windows and high beltline. Particularly for cars
with lower heights. Also, when was the last time you saw a bench
seat in the front of a car?<br>

<pre class="moz-quote-pre" wrap="">Hi all,
I’m reserving impression until I get hands on experience.
As for size I had a related conversation with a VW dealer. I said I didn’t love our new Toyota Rav 4 prime mainly because it was longer and wider than my Vanagon but didn’t have a lot of interior room. I thought the design was silly.
His answer was. Cars are now a safety capsule. That missing room is so that people inside are safe.
This is a good observation.
I love my Vanagon and its use of space. And, it is not super unsafe, but not anything like the safety capsule of a new vehicle.
I suspect this impacts the space in the IDBuzz.
Still with clever engineering maybe we can get that little van into a comfortable small camper mode, fingers crossed.

The most boring and useless rebirth of an icon.
The Buzz is a 5-seater "minivan" (4.6mtr) , in Europe like Sharan/Galaxy/Alhambra. US similar PontiacTransport and modern such?! I had a seat in it in Hannover last year.
Now they are bragging with the long wheelbase 7/8 seater (4.9mtr). Have you seen the shine-through image of it? If completely fitted with seats, the luggage compartment is less than T5s.

Our Vanagons are 4.6mtr and have a whole meter of that length as luggage compartment.
I am not saying the Vanagon is the ultmaite design for all eternity! But boy, the outer vs inner size has been developing backwards since the 2000s.
Yes, VW has to ride the nostalgia wave. But in my opinion, they are dismantling their own heritage.
The young rich kids won´t care anyway and think it´s cool.
