I'd like to suggest this...

Remove the wire from the old antenna wire from the radio, attach a rope to it. From the outside remove the old antenna, attach the rope to the new antenna wire. From the inside pull the rope to get the wire in and plug it in the radio, Secure the antenna from the outside and grommet and all.
