Can there be warning signs that the ignition switch is needing to be replaced? 

On my 84 today horn didn’t work but I could hear it slightly at the horn.  I cycled the switch a few times and it started to work.  A few months ago my wife came home with no headlights, she only saw a flash when doing something with the brights.  I went out to check and they worked.  They continue to work several months later.  Only thing I did is turn the key. 

Are these signs of a needed ignition switch change or something else?
