I researched and settled on the ARB because other users had the least
trouble with water leaking in the space between awning case and the
vanagon. One thing I did not was was water in the van.
I found a very lightly used ARB awning on ebay for $125 plus
shipping--don't remember, but not too bad. The ARB brackets are superb--you
need three, they sell them only in pairs, but it is always easy to sell the
extra one if you buy two pairs and get your money back on it. It is a very
slick arrangement. I had a lot of trouble getting brackets during the
pandemic but likely no problem now. My awning came without the LED light
strip that slides into a plastic pouch in the bottom of the awning and
illuminates the space below the awning. I found that item on amazon with
wiring and remote for about $40 new. It works just great, dimmable, with
white light and bug light options.
Not as luxurious as the Fiamma but priced accordingly. A very nice product
I've had no trouble with.
You will need to make a trip to walmart to get a pair of those heavy-duty
tarp earth augers to anchor the thing into the ground. Nothing ARB supplies
can hold it to the ground in a high wind, which is exactly when you will be
using it.
