that is funny Dennis "Vanagons slow down going up hills even with the throttle applied". I experience this in my 81 Westy AC quite frequently. Going uphill, shifting into third, to second and even this is occasionally not enough. So slowing down even further, even come to a complete stop and changing to 1st. Then as it at the high (one can just hear and feel it) and off to 2nd. This lasts only for so long then slowing down again and back to 1st and so on. Especially bad in a city with steep hills and not enough road to try to "coast over".
