We have been new owners of an Ioniq 5 for about 6 weeks. Good to know that rapid deceleration of the I-brake doesn’t provide any signal to drivers in the rear via brake lights…I was wondering whether this was the case - as you can slow very quickly and to a stop without using the brakes whatsoever. With EVs and especially the Ioniq 5 the brakes will last a very long time as you rarely use them in the typical sense.

Love the 5 - A really nice and comfortable vehicle for driving around town and if charging at home with a 2 stage charging system. If travelling - be prepared to stop much sooner to charge depleted batteries depending on speed and hill climbs or in my case mountain passes. Stopping can mean a delay of 2 hours or more for charge time and or waiting to get charge time - and not all rapid chargers are equal or produce a truly fast charge.

Will likely turn to gas for the same trip in the fall inspite of the much lower cost of travel. Gas or diesel provides more flexibility, range and freedom on the open road - at least for now, but the EVs are excellent for every day commuting and driving around town.

Last week I got a chance to see the new VW EV bus - and was disappointed by it - kind of thought the styling looked like a disguised Routan with rounded corners. I was expecting to feel we made a mistake with our choice of EV - but after looking at the bus, I was happy to choose the Hyundai over the VW.

Blasphemy I know!
