many years ago (~2006) a fellow "John Wallace" went on vacation and had his email set to respond to any emails that he will be on vacation. The gerry email list was way more active and per day there were around 100 emails or so. So to every email sent, there was an email responding " I will be on vacation and will respond once I am back" (or something like that). It lasted a few weeks. Since then the term "wallaced" exists.
