Eric and all, I too have found the hookup for city water to be just a pain,
and do not use it. The various connectors available to fill the tank from
outside are no good, either. I just fill the tank with a hose (with a hose
end shut off) from inside the van. Usually, if at a campsite with potable
water available, I use the sink sparingly, and keep a carboy filled for
washing up, personal toiletry and such. If potable water is not available
(I like those places best, as most other people don't), I'll use stream or
lake water but boil it first. I have an odd penchant for preferring local
water for coffee or tea, too.
