Hi John, I have only owned early vanagon campers so I never did this change myself. Other than some minor differences in location of the handles that control the seat positions my seats can be swapped. Nothing needs to be done to the seats. You just have to be aware of the handle changes. My memory says the driver side has the handles on one side and the passenger has them on either side. I’m guessing this is so the seat can be changed while driving, and keeping a hand on the wheel. I believe I have heard listers mention swapping seats in the past. Hopefully someone with a later Vanagon non Westy will give you the final answer. But, I’m pretty sure you are good to go with the swap. Another option is very nice seat covers. I purchased some that feel basically like a seat only it gives back a little cushion, and a lot of protection. Eric Caron
