Subject: Idle control on the 84 system
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8

Hi folks, So I’m wondering about the ICU for the 1.9 system. I’ve been running my van without it. I had a green plastic one and it was in bad shape.

D Dennis mentioned using a black one if I could get one, or just go without it.

Later, Jim C, a list member gifted me a green one in better shape than mine. And, then at a parts swap I was given a beige colored one. It looked new. The numbers were exactly the same as on my green one.

Today I put it on and went for a test drive.

I actually expected no noticeable behavior. But, to my surprise, I found the cold idle slightly better and usually when we start out the idle is very low at our first intersection, this time the idle seemed perfect. Later when warm the van always idled perfect, and it still does.

So, to my surprise, my early indication is that the little Idle control unit on the 1.9 system actually does do something nice for the idle.
