Be Sure that the Trany to Frame Ground Wire is Clean & Has Good Clean

Connections,,, I also like to run an additional Ground Wire form a Starter Mount

Bolt to Frame or Body so that those little tiny electrons don’t have to work so

hard to get to where they are needed ~

Unless the battery is absolutely 100% the solenoid will not pull in. I have replaced the switch and also tried my new hi-torque starter for another Vanagon project. I decided to add the typical hot-start relay as I have done on my other Vanagons. With the relay in circuit, the solenoid pulls in every time, but the starter continues running when the key is released. I'm an electrical engineer and really do know how a relay works and how to hook it up. I've used both an OEM Bosch relay and a generic relay. Both were 12 volt single-pole relays. I also note that this van has both the normal heavier wire going to the solenoid and a smaller wire also on a parallel terminal at the starter. I've put that wire on both the trigger terminal of the relay or the output of the relay with identical results. I've lent my Bentley out so don't have a print to reference. Ideas, anyone? > > > Sent from Outlook<http://aka.ms/weboutlook>
