And don't be discouraged at all....last time my extremely experienced Vanagon mechanic replaced all 4 CV's, his comment was that usually a couple of the bolts snap at the head...and sure enough, that is exactly what happened and they were on the outside CV's.  So basically, plan ahead for this event.
