Sorry for jumping into an old thread...
But wondered if anyone (who has won the lottery lately) has used Amsoil Signature Series 5W-50?

Looks like the ultimate choice for our Vanagons!
Thoughts?

I'm still working to get used to filling my 6.2L Denali with 0w-20.

Sounds good. Thanks. Way back when I used to drive my 85 year round. In Canada that could mean overnight temps of -35C. I would use 20W50 in the summer and 10W30 in the winter. Most other makes would use 5W30 in the winter. You are correct it’s a bit tougher to find but since I only do an oil change once a season now it is worth the effort!

As both my vans have oil coolers and the original oil to water exchanger removed it takes them considerable time for the oil to heat up. With the lower cold viscosity the oil pressure when cold drops sooner than with the 15w and the engine just seems to crank and start easier.
