I agree with Mark M.  Stick with it.  It is not expensive, and gives you a chance to look around.  On my Subie 2.2 motor, I use synthetic; change every 5K.  When on a long roadtrip across USA, I might stretch that to 7K.  I actually love changing oil, makes me feel like a mechanic.  I buy all my oil at Walmart, the 5 quart jugs.  Cheap.
