When you buy one, try to get one from a source that makes the whole variety of jaws to fit the pliers. Whatever you want to crimp, there is a jaw made for it. There wasn’t even an Amazon when I bought mine but even eBay at the time had a real selection in price, quality and options.

More importantly the quality of the connector and wire is what often determines the success of the connections. For the most part, if you purchased the connectors at the auto parts store you have junk. Even for name brand stuff there are different performance levels offered. Many devices that have wires attached have prro quality wore often not meeting any size standard, same with wire purchased separately. Also for wire there is a lot of copper coated aluminum junk. Also, the wirining in the Vanagon is meteric, not AWG so a bit of effort is needed to choose the right connector and crimp it properly.
