Ok more interesting news re the crank screw.

I picked up an M5 at the hardware store and it appears to have the same thread as the one supplied by Bus Depot. It is a very different thread than the one I have been using though. I believe I have replaced the crank/lifter mechanism at some point. Is it possible that an aftermarket crashes a different thread?! Thanks Jeff 85 Westfalia, Winnipeg

GoWesty gave an honest evaluation of the problem: it's not the crank at fault, it's all the crud and dried up grease on the 35+ year old internal mechanisms. Since my Vanagon got crunched in the Passenger Door, and I've got a new Donor Door, I've diligently removed everything from old door to transfer to new door. Also, I've taken special attention to clean up all the crud...and re-grease things. Yes, I am fond of my original Window Cranks, many happy memories....and with new grease, I am predicting marvelous success. For a very long time. > > On Saturday, September 21, 2024 at 02:57:16 PM PDT, Jeff Palmer <w.jeff.palmer@icloud.com> wrote: > > > I’m looking for a screw that will work with my window crank extender (BusDepot version).
