Subject: Off topic but fun, Wife saves the car engine
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8

Hi folks,

My wife is a great VW bus lady. In more than one example she has saved the day. Most recently noticing and quickly pulling over the 84 when a coolant hose blew.

Today, she told me that she noticed a line of oil along the driveway and into the carport where our 2022 Toyota RAV 4 Prime was sitting. We checked the oil and it was down to just at the lower line. Oil had been changed in late October. Most miles on the car are electric with no gas.

So, we went to the garage where the oil change was done. I expected the oil plug or filter would be at fault. And…

They said the filter was leaking.

So, either a failed filter or someone installed incorrectly. We will keep an eye on it now. But, I think my Wife is used to noticing mechanical things from all the van driving years and this time it saved the newish car. The car only has 14,0000 miles on it and most of that is electric! Destroying or damaging that engine from lack of oil would have been very sad. Vanagons teach us not to take everything for granted with a car and to notice things. A very helpful skill.

eRic Caron
