So they finally got rid of the C-clip on the new ones, eh? I have always wondered why they were there. After all where was the axle going? Of course I have always reinstalled them, and will again this time, but it is on my list of "silly things in a VW". I was awfully glad not to see one of those compressed dished washers under the joint. The C-clip is enough of a pain without having to make up a tool to compress the washer, concurrent with installing the clip.
