Do you mean putting it in the oil, or running it through the carb? Never tried that, but for sticky valve guides (not hydraulic lifters, mind you) pouring a quart of diesel fuel down the carb with the engine running fast (don't pour too fast or you kill the engine) will free them up. However, it also causes massive air pollution in the immediate area -- like half a block around gets enveloped in a white fog.
