We were allowed to drive our Westfalia without a smog certificate for three months. We were told by DMV (Sunnyvale) that we would be require to provide one upon request but could always claim that we were going to do it the next day. Not so much a loophole but a relaxed set of requirements. BTW the onus is on the original owner to smog - DC > ============================================================================= > David Schwarze '73 VW Safare Custom Camper (Da Boat) > SAIC Comsystems, San Diego '73 Capri GT 2800 (Da Beast) > schwarze@nosc.mil '87 Mustang Lx 5.0 (Da Bruiser?
