I found mine at the same swap meet that I saw the Franklin model. It was
$18.50 and it's the gold one. It's a Synchro, but looks the same as a regular
van except for the gascap location. It's metal, about 4 inches long, and the
sliding door and back hatch open. They also had one in wolfsburg gray that I
wish I had bought. I'm pretty sure it was at a booth for a place called
Auto-bound inc, in Alameda, Ca (SF Bay Area). They carry Auto and Motorcycle
repair manuals mostly, but have a bunch of other stuff as well. There business
card says decals, grille badges, key fobs, lapel pins, prints, posters,
wheelskins, windshield tints, plate frames, and auto minatures. Address is
2313 Santa Clara Avenue, Alameda, CA, 94501. Phone numbers are 510-521-8630

I'll repost below one of Joel's humongus posts on this thread from last
december. It mentions the Schabak models somewhere in there, and a possible
source for ordering them.

the u.s. revell model of the vanagon was issued as kit # 7328,
Magnum P.I. Vanagon, in 1/25 scale. the plastic is dark brown (as was
the vanagon in the tv series). it's listed as copyrighted in 1982.
Revell/Lodela of mexico also issued the same kit, but without the
Magnum P.I. stuff, in 1/25 scale. the plastic is light green/white
and the kit number is RH-7382 <no, that is NOT a mistype: the u.s.
kit was 73-two-eight and the mexican kit is 73-eight-two>
the u.s. revell kit of the split window bus is kit number 7304, and
yes, it can be made into a fair approximation of a stock panel van,
but it is a LOT of work to undo what the idiots at revell did.
now, for the real modeling nut, there is a catalog called
danhausen's world modelcar book, and it's put out each year (or used
to be ... i haven't been able to get one since 1986). it's from
Danhausen Modelcar
