Currently trying to do same with 84 GTI tach into clock space on my '82 Vanagon. So close yet so far away. Was half seriously thinking about installing the whole GTI instrument cluster, would have made the computer installation easier (remember that computer? still lying with wires attached like frankenstein's hobby on my fly-tying table)

I bought a used VDO tach from a marine supply store for my '72. It fit exactly into the blank clock space, 4"?
