I remember an really expensive rotor for my '71 that was a centrifugal rev limiter also, fixed at 4200RPM i think, that or 4400. Cheap insurance, but I still bought the $3.00 model at tune-up time. I also remember hours on end at full throttle, 58-63mph no problems. Old VW manuals used to say "top speed and cruising speed is.." then they started saying "top speed..", then no rating except speed /1000 RPM. I guess they didn't want to encourage breaking the speed limit once they could do so. tim s.
