Hello, If the tension adjustment fails (the stud pulls out of its mount), the stud may be replaced with a bolt by extending the stud hole through the top of the mirror mount. The bolt may have to be bent slightly. I have needed to do this on both of my mirrors. The repair is fairly easy and it is permanent. Mike Michael A.
