Ummm, the current itinerary *does* call for us to return via Alaska, briefly.
We come down by Tok, and then return to Canada.  Looking at my Alaskan
highway map, it doesn't seem that you can drive much within Alaska.  There
are no roads that go down the panhandle, for example.

We could take the Alaskan Ferry down the coast to Prince Rupert...
