My 90 Synchro came complete (from PO) with an extension cord....male electrical plug dangling out near one of the towing hooks below the rear bumper. Hooked up to 1.) CalRod type heater on the outside of the oilpan, 2.) Immersion (?) heater in one of the raditor hoses (top of rad) and 3.) a neat little heater plate under the battery. The van originally came from Alaska, where I believe temps can be somewhat lower then our brisk 20F mornings....hence, I never use it. I will mention that upon plugging it in after a good hosing off, the whole vehicle gets "tingly".... bowmanr%em@mhs.elan.af.mil Live Smart. Think for yourself. Transform the future. I've got something called a "Kat's Volkswagen Engine Heater" on my '66 camper and '63 bug. It is a 150 Watt heater that bolts to the bottom of the engine and keeps the oil warm. Both start and run reliably with no other modifications in extreme cold (The coldest I've started at is -47 F) Anyway, Kat's makes two different models of the heater--one for upright engines and one for '72 and up (I'm not sure if it would fit the watercooled engines or not). They cost about $20 and should be available in import auto part stores where ever it gets cold. If you want one and can't find a source, let me know and I'll ship one out. BTW, no affiliation with Kat's etc. -Tom Use Proportional Font: true Previous From: vanagon@SC-NGM1{MHS:vanagon@lenti.med.umn.edu} Previous To: vanagon@SC-NGM1 (Multiple recipients oflist){MHS:vanagon@lenti.med.umn.edu} Original to: vanagon@SC-NGM1 (Multiple recipients oflist){MHS:vanagon@lenti.med.umn.edu} Attachment Count: 0 --PartBoundary_Mon_Dec_11_15:14:30__15439840 ========================================================================= Date: Sender: Vanagon Mailing List <vanagon@vanagon.com> From: Subject: begin 777 ATTRIBS.BND M0F5Y;VYD(%!A8VME9"!!='1R:6)U=&5S`([]"'<9"@``````0F5Y;VYD(%!R M;W!R:65T87)Y($1A=&$:`````!$```````0`#0"4`0`````````````````` M````````3W)I9VEN86P@=&5X=*T#1@H`````````````@@$#`*T#?`$"``(` M```5``(``0`!`)L``````````@"<`!(#````````./\```````"0`0`````` M````35,@4V%N<R!397)I9@``````````````````````````````8/\````` M``"0`0``````````07)I86P````````````````````````````````````` M`````0`!`$L``0!+`)L``0";`)P``@"<`/=_`@"?`/=_`@#K`/=_`@`!`?=_ M`@`"`?=_`@!*`?=_`@"4`?=_`@#=`?=_`@`H`O=_`@`I`O=_`@!R`O=_`@"T M`O=_`@#_`O=_`@!)`_=_`@"+`_=_`@"G`_=_`@"H`_=_`@"N`_=_```````` M````````9``!I`$!2`,![`0!D`8!-`@!V`D!?`L!(`T!Q`X!:!`!#!(!L!,!
