Subject:      Winter and battery

Bonjour,

I have some problem with the battery of my Westy 85 (we don't use it a lot
these times since it's winter, and we have a Jetta with four snow tires). I
suppose that the battery is more than 2 years older since it was there when
we had buy the Westy.

In the summer there is no problem at all, except that the green light doesnt
light a lot of time, it goes to yellow after, say, two days of inactivity.
We asking ourselves about the fact that the refrigerator could drain a
little the battery in off position. Last winter suddenly (after one week of
big cold), the battery became died, I charge it (slow charge), it had taken
less than 5 hour.

This year, before the snow, there was no problem, if I run a little the
indicator (in the Westy part) goes to green, but this week, the battery was
in the red position, so the engine not start. After a while, the light goes
to yellow, and I was able to start the engine (it was for snow removal...).
I plan to charge the battery this week-end. My question is, do you think
that this battery is near the end of its life (I think this battery is 3
years old, but a camper is a lot of use of the battery without the engine
running).
