The cotton/gauze model must be oiled to operate properly. You should be =
able to get the proper oil from the dealer where you obtain the filter. =
I used this type of filter for many years when I had a weber on my '74 =
bus. It's a good idea to buy two filters if you decide to go this route. =
Keep a clean one that can be oiled and installed while the dirty one is =
cleaned and dried.

I received in the mail yesterday my JCWhitney VW catalog.  In it they=20
show an air filter for my Weber DFEV 32/36.  One model is paper and=20
about $4.  The other is cotton/gauze and is about $6.  It is claimed=20
to be reusable.  Any comments on these or other filters for this=20
carburetor?  The only one I can find locally is at a speed=20
shop and they want $20 for it.  This, again, is one I can clean and=20
reuse.  If the cheap ones filter effectively I wouldn't mind just=20
throwing on a new one every few thousand miles.  Of course, I am a guy
who likes to change his oil every 1,000 miles.  I didn't trust GEX to=20
tap the case for a filter.  Thanks, Jim
