I have the Thule version and they work great.  They have a nice thick rubber pad 
between the plate and the roof with little rubber rings that seal it very well.  
I've never even noticed dampness on the inside around the bolts.


I have a Thule roof rack and ski/snowboard attachment.  The heaviest thing I've 
carried is 2 surfboards but I can't imagine having problems.  The pop top roof are 
quite strong so as long as your latch holds it down securely I don't think there is 
any chance that wind or reasonable loads will damage or rip your roof off.
