This reminds me of one of my old electrics professors quotes from one of 
his lectures on selecting parts:

     "When you go into Radio Shack to pick out the appropriate capacitor
      for your project and you're not sure of a specification.  Don't
      ask the guy at Radio Shack!  That's why he's behind the counter!"
