Martha:

In my current location, I don't have access to the address for the VANAGON group so I hope you'll consider posting this to both the THING and the VANAGON list.

Between the prodding of my family and a associates, I've begun planning a lengthy trip for next summer.

There are some VW people who have voiced interest so I'm taking this pro-active step to post this to survey for broader interest. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Proposing a trip to "Circle the Great Lakes" in the Summer of 1997

Plans/Route are sketchy, at present; the general scheme is as follows:

Timing will be (earliest) about the second week of June '97.

Duration will be about three weeks to a month, with participants joining and departing as desired. Similar to the trip (GNATT) David and I took in 1995.

I plan to post a detailed itenerary with intermittent stops, check points, meeting locations and times.

The route "initially" planned ->

Fort Leonard Wood, MO - Saint Louis, MO - Bloomington, IL - Rockford, IL - Madison, WI - LaCrosse, WI - Eau Claire, WI - Minneapolis, MN - Duluth, MN - Thunder Bay, ONT - Nipigon, ONT - Marathon, ONT - Sault Ste Marie, ONT - Sault Ste Marie, MI - Macinaw, MI - Blind River, ONT - Tobermory, ONT - Owen Sound, ONT - Barrie, ONT - Orillia, ONT - Oshawa, ONT - Kingston, ONT - Watertown, ONT - Oswego, ONT - Niagra Falls, ONT - Buffalo, ONT - Erie, PA - Cleveland, OH - Toledo, OH - Detroit, MI - Windsor, ONT - Bay City, MI - Traverse City, MI - Ludington, MI - Lake Michigan Ferry - Manitowoc, WI - Green Bay, WI - Menominee, MI - Niagara, WI - Ironwood, MI - Ashland, WI - Superior, WI - Saint Paul, MN - LaCrosse, WI - Madison, WI - Rockford, IL - Bloomington, IL - Saint Louis, MO - Fort Leonard Wood, MO

I'm sending for brohures/literature from the appropriate tourist/convention agencies to map out ...

things-to-do things-to-see when-to-be-there where-to-stay'.

Would like to get comments, statement(s) of interest to participate, suggestions, any constructive contribution(s).
