Subject: Got new starter - strange connections

Well, after various starter problems and not being able to find a problem with any bad connections, I decided to check out new starters. I found a fairly reasonable Bosch remanufactured one for $95. The thing is, comparing it to my old one, I note it has an extra spade connection.

My old one had a double connector at the top-front of the solenoid for the wire from the starter and the wire to the fuel injection. This new starter has that same double connector, but also has another spade connector at the bottom-front of the solenoid. Starter is identified as SR87X. Anyone know what the other connection is for, or if this is the correct starter for my '80 Vanagon with manuel trans?

Also, the starter came with a new bush for the shaft to fit into. Is this really that important to replace? If so, how do you get the old one out without taking the engine out to drive it out of the hole from the other side of the housing?

I thought this was gonna be an easy job.
