Subject: Mark Stephens call

I recently put a Mark Stephens rebuilt engine in my '80 Vanagon Westy. So far it seems to be working well. I did question this list about a problem getting it started, and thanks to the help of many of you, the engine is in and working. I'm still driving pretty tentatively though.

Today, I got a phone call from Mark Stephens himself. It seems someone gave him a copy of my request to the list asking for help getting the engine started. He called to see if I had worked it out and to offer any help. I told him I had it running and we talked for a while about several small questions I had, oil temps, pressure, etc. No earthshaking news, but I thought it was nice to get an unsolicited call offering help.

We talked about the vanagon and type2 lists. He said he's not computer literate but he wants to get involved and someone he knows is working on some type of net presence. I told him how mailing lists work - maybe someday he'll join in.
