Subject: Digifant ECU

It seems that there are a significant amount of failures in the Digifant ECU. Makes me glad that I have the DigiJet system in my 83 Westy. I wonder what fails in the ECU. If someone would send me a dead ECU I would be more than happy to try and figure out what specifically fails in the ECU. Depending on what the failure mode is I might be able to repair it,and post it to the FAQ. $700 is a chunk of change.

(BTW, Although I work in Finance I do have a BS in Electrical Engineering).

I had the same dilemna last summer. But since junkyard ECU's were only $150, even though they were non-exhangable I figured I could chance it & go through up to 4 bad ones before I'd spent as much as one new one. Luckily, the first one was good. I don't think that ECU's get damaged that much in crashes, so you have a fairly good chance of getting a good one from a junkyard.

Hope this helps! Kathy
