did you check the linkage adjustment? I also have an '83 w/ bad engine but perfectly good trans with new clutch kit installed if any wants to buy it for parts. cannon.e.c@postal.essd.northgrum.com

When my 86 stuck in third gear it turned out to be a broken gear. If memory serves me it was the 3rd/4th sliding cog. Not a lot of fun to change but I did it my self (borrowed one tool from dealer). Good Luck Ken Lewis 86 crew cab 85 Gl
