Subject: air cooled is cool (still trying...)

Just ended a 4,800 mile trip up the Cal-Ore-Wash coasts up U.S. 101 fro= m San Francisco to Prince Ruppert, British Columbia (ferried to PR from northern tip of Vancouver Island), then back through Jasper and Banfff,=

B.C.; Diamond Lake, Wash.; Spokane, Wash; Bend, Ore., Crater Lake National Park., Ore., and back down I-5 to Le Cite in '82 Vanagon rigge= d for camping with later-model Weekender sleeper, and pleased to report i= t ran absolutely flawlessly all the way, getting 18-21 mpg on 87 octane regular on everything from firest service gravel roads to 70 mph freewa= ys where it cruised effortlessly with the big boys. Vanagon and breadloaf Westies were relatively common coming and going. Air-cooled is truly cool. Cheers, Art =1A
