Roy: I have the same problem with my '87. Don't worry about replacing all the guts though. The solution is simple and absolutely FREE!!! All you have to do is wad or fold 3 or 4 pieces of the windshield wiping paper found next to the gas pump and put them between the nozzle and the van. This will soak up the overspill and still allow enough left-over dry space to allow for disposal into the trash recepticle (so you won't have to worry about smeeling like gas). You may end-up spending an extra .25 or .50 cents on gas per year, but it sure beats ripping the heck out of your baby and crossing your fingers that you put everything back the right way and that it will work right, even if you do.
