List members driving other types of VWs, I need an exhaust manifold for a 88 VW golf, gl NON gti. Since I am not working on a westy, I was searching for the exhaust leak on my 89 golf. One of the arms on the exhaust manifold is cracked half way around. Is this common? It is the first one I have seen that has cracked. 2nd problem. First thing in the morning the golf, automatic, will not move when you put it into gear. If acts like an auto. acts when it is low on trans fluid. The fluid is new and full. It also make a medium pitched whining noise when I rev the motor. Is there a fluid pump in the trans that can go bad???? Is it hard and expensive to replace? There are several thing amiss on the golf, it may be time to look for another vw to drive. Kenneth Winter 88 vw golf 87 Toyota 84 Westy, sold and sadly missed |
