Certainly!

the 2.8(3.4)liter Chevy V-6 is the engine i am currently in the process of installing into my Vanagon. the 2.8 is the stock engine, and the 3.4 is the GM Performance Parts overbored edition of the 2.8 liter engine. i should be ordering the engine this coming monday.

the 2.2 liter flat-4 is really a horizontally opposed (like a porsche) 2.2 liter 4 cylinder engine. it is quite peppy. by the way: whatever you do, don't do moderate off-roading in a subaru outback. i went with my friend to a trail he knows, and going over one of the many large holes in the ground, the right hand fog light was struck with a BIG clump of stationary soil and the housing was destroyed. the light still works, but now you can see the light reflecting off overhead trees (bad thing).

hopefully that answered your question but if you have more questions, please e-mail me or visit my homepage where you can see "up to date" progress on my Vanagon.
