If you will look on your gas pumps you will not see RON anywhere. What you will see is RON+MON ------- 2 This is obviously not the same as RON because RON is only one of the parts of this equation. This is known as the CLC method of calculating octane.

As the book says, (read more closely please) 91 RON is equal to 87 CLC. If you're not using the cheap stuff, you're throwing money away.
