it is 3 big hunks which block the air channel entirely (fore, aft and between the two vents) I cannot imagine this foam coming up from anywhere else. Looks like it was put there for the purpose of blocking the channel.

Also another list member with the same model (84 wolfsberg westie GL) emailed me privately to say he too had the foam. So it doesn't look the work of a prior owner.

So maybe we are onto the question of whether the dealer was suppose to remove it?

Does any 84 wolfsberg westie not have the foam and enjoy ventilation through these vents?

I would hate to take the time to take it out only to find out nothing happens.
