Subject: Starting-Electrical Problems

Greetings Everybody -

My '91 Carat (85K young) had begun to fail to start intermittently. Based on my research of the Archives (still at UMN?), I found possibilities ranging from Solonoid to Starter to Starter Bushing cleaning and/or replacement. Although my battery is less than 3 years old, when I had the system checked the battery was shot (fortunately a 65 month battery so at least it had some pro-rated warranty left). However, they told me the starter, etc. was okay, but I needed a new alternator because mine was putting out 10 amps versus the 14 amps it should be delivering. My question to those of you in the know, (who have always been helpful in the past), is does this sound right to you, or should I be considering other possibilities?

Many thanks as always,

Sam (penn valley, pa) '91 Carat '71 Camper (deceased)
