My 17 year old son is now the primary driver of our 84 Vanagon, with the standard 1.9 L, automatic transmission, and no tach. In order to keep him from over-reving the engine, it would be helpful if he knew the rpms at 70 mph, which is the top legal speed in this state. (Of course, all of us remember that we never exceeded the speed limit when we were his age.) Does anyone with a similar vehicle, or access to appropriate technical data, know what rpm is achieved at 70 mph? Additionally, does anyone have an excess tach, which I am told can be easily installed in the clock location, and wired to the distributor. Thanks in advance to all listees for anticipated assistance. Budd Premack 86 Syncro, 84 Vanagon, 73 Super Minneapolis, MN bpremack@wavetech.net |
